But the rest of the album was recorded between 1963 and 1965 by Sly Stone (nee Sylvester Stewart), during his dues paying period as a producer for the West Coast indie label Autumn Records. These tracks make for an interesting snapshot of an early '60s pop moment, running the gamut as they do from R&B and pop-rock, to fake live tracks ("Seventh Son") in emulation of Johnny Rivers.
