Description: This variation includes darker legs (black & brown), which can be more effective in some conditions such as super clear water or in sunny bright days. It’s less flashy than my yellow/black version. Everything else is the same. The pics show big fish being attracted to this variation. This is a Lance Egan version of the popular Pat's Rubber leg. It's tied on a size 10 Daiichi 1730 or Umpqua U106 curved-shanked hook with a 4.5 mm tungsten bead (either matte or gloss black depending on what's available - both are equality effective). As a result, the fly inverts like a jig hook during the drift resulting in better hook set. It's a killer fly that often works as a heavy "anchor" in a two-nymph euro rig or by itself. Stoneflies have a 3-4 year lifecyle, which means that a nymphal form of this common bug is always present in a river system wherever stoneflies are found. You can fish this year around and catch fish. In summer time, drifting it in faster waters will get an immediate strike. In winter, the fish will target them in slower water. This has produced a lot of fish for me over the years. This version has the brown & black legs.
