Description: 1937 coronation flag bears name of the original family who owned it (at the top) and was sewn in two parts. Original owners strung the banner with string which is still intact. There is some staining on the white lettering as well as small holes. Notice I photographed both sides. I did clean the banner earlier in the year with a watered down Woolite solution and very carefully rolled it up in a towel to dry in an attempt to preserve the fabric and brighten the red background. Washing lifted a considerable amount of dirt and age (water was dark and scummy). Colors are still consistent and bright and banner is overall in good shape which is remarkable considering how thin the fabric is and that it was very possibly hung in the wind and elements and then put away 86 years ago. Photographed in natural sunlight. It's a treasure, but I failed to appreciate how considerable the actual size thus have never displayed it.
