Description: I am selling my 1946 scrollface featherweight. I have listed out as many details as I can think of but can of course add more if you need, just shoot me a message! Forgive any typos, this was a long listing. COSMETICS: It has been treated well throughout its lifetime, but there are obvious signs of use. No rust or build up, but there are small chips and inconsistencies in the paint throughout consistent with long-term, proper use such as the clear coat and gold decals on the bed and front edge have worn through. Additionally there are faint outlines of where some of the included accessories were mounted on the bed. There are many scratches on the neck and top of the lightbulb housing from where pins were placed on a piece of fabric wrapped around it. Lastly, one of the bakelite plastic motor brushes screws has been stripped out so a screwdriver can no longer be used to remove it (see 19th photo). Instead to remove it you kinda have to finesse it out with your fingers. Given that the motor brushes are still in good shape (I checked them) and that they are still accessible on the very rare occasions you need to replace them it should not be an issue. I went over most of the surfaces with a light coat of Singer oil as advised by Singer as stronger cleaners can damage the surfaces. The cord is in excellent shape for its age, no nicks or kinks, and has no gummy/ sticky areas. Please keep in mind this is the original cord which means on the plug end you can access the wiring very easily by removing that cardboard coin piece. DON'T do that it's dangerous. It's pretty unlikely to fall off on its own due to how the prongs were constructed but if it worries you it can be replaced with an aftermarket one pretty easily. The box is in ok cosmetic condition, it has many scuffs, scratches, and areas where the black paint is wearing through. Additionally the faux leather on the handle closest to where it meets the box has flaked away and there is a little bit of rust on that metal linking the handle to the box top. The inside is in very good shape. I gave it a wipe down but there is still a little dust in corners. It has that old-timey sewing machine smell; it's not a bad one, it's just noticeable and every single of the ones I have done work on have it. The pedal is in good shape, the paint is wearing through on the corners due to friction with shoes over time and some scratches but there are no big dents or anything significant to note. ACCESSORIES: This machine in addition to the box and pedal comes with assorted sewing attachments, 7 bobbins, a screwdriver, 2 extra, vintage replacement light bulbs, a vintage tube of oil, and some old reading materials about different stitch patterns and lessons for new students. A note about the oil, this is just an educated guess but I am about 90 percent sure that tube is made out of lead (which can be toxic) based on how soft it is so I would not advise using it. It's more of a cute cool novelty; I'd strongly advise you just buy some new singer oil. PERFORMANCE: The pedal is responsive, and the belt is in very good condition. I oiled the machine in each of its designated oil spots as well as the one motor oil port. Alignment is good, and it makes a nice straight stitch. It does not need handwheel assistance starting up at slow speeds which can often be the case with many of these older machines. Shipping will be calculated at checkout and a 10 dollar handling fee will be applied to cover shipping insurance costs. If you would like any further details or photos please let me know, I can instant message more; i'm just at the 24 photo listing maximum. It is never my intention to mislead or misrepresent with any of my items. I take this very seriously and want us both to feel like we are getting a fair deal.
