Description: Spidel PRESTIGE Simplex Super S.L lightweight, alloy rear derailleur, the Super Lucien Juy (S. L JUY). This is an early 1979 SLJ 5000 with the HEX nut cable fixing. Cage stamped R79. This is the exact derailleur as the 5500, except for the threaded adjustment barrel on the 5500. This is a top preforming derailleur for 5, 6, & 7 speed cassette gear clusters. Valued as an upgrade for any friction shifting derailleurs and shifters of the 1970's through early 1980's. This derailleur handles a wider range cluster than the Campagnolo Records of that period, another reason they were a swap out component. This model derailleur was generally paired with the Simplex front SL JUY and Simpex Retrofriction shifters to capture the optimum performance of this setup. These badge panel decals have been available from sellers on the internet, that are sized to overlay so to mimic the original markings if important on a restoration bike.
