Description: Solid Sweden Silver Framed Drinking Horn with Horse Leg Hallmarked Sweden JOO A5 Date circa 1855 & F, J or I monogram Stamped CoinPresented is a fantastic ostentatious drinking horn cup with a silver frame rim stand tail and ring tab with a great calligraphic F,J or I monogram. All pieces of silver have marks for silver made in Sweden of 830 fine silver. The rim top, the ring band for horse leg stand and the ring holding stamped monogramed coin are marked JOO for silver by Johan Olaf Ostlund working in the province or Gavle date marked A5 for silver made in 1855. American standard sterling silver is 925 fine silver; so there is slightly less silver in this alloy. This great drinking horn will hold 1 ½ quart of liquid without leaking; please note; liquid above the rim line of silver frame top is not sealed properly and leaks around edge. This is a beautiful piece for display for the collector of antique silver for its design aesthetic in almost any décor or setting.
