About the plates These are standard chrome-plated neck plates designed to the Fender standard, the plates are 2" x 2.5" with holes on center at 1.5" and 2", respectively. About the engraving Using the newest Laser Engraving technology, the plate is etched a fraction of an inch, which turns the metal a dark brown. Laser marking is permanent and easily visible. What designs work best? Text and graphics work best. Certain photographs will also work if they have a lot of white space and little shading. For more detailed photographs, order our Full Color Printed neck plates - in our eBay store. Images are converted to black and white before engraving. Shades of gray are engraved using a subtle pattern of tiny dots. What doesn't work well? These design components should be avoided: Very thin lines. Very small lettering.
