Description: A rare signed limited, large paper edition featuring Whistler's hand-signed stylized butterfly monograph (originally designed from his initials, and how his paintings were often signed). Numbered 79 of only 250 limited signed copies. Whistler, known for his watercolors (most famously "Whistler's Mother"), had numerous public relationships with other artists of his time, including Oscar Wilde, Rossetti, Monet, and Degas. This unusual book detailing some of Whistler's more adversarial relationships was written as a kind of vendetta, showing of how many enemies he collected, notably his libel suit against art critic John Ruskin, and with Oscar Wilde. A lovely book printed on heavy paper (deckled page edges), in very good condition with some partial cracking to the front inner hinge (a little delicate), and some browning/toning inside the boards.
