Description: THE BOOK IS IN NEAR FINE CONDITION WITH LIGHT DUST ON EXPOSED PAGE EDGES, AGE RELATED PAPER TONING, AND MINIMAL IMPERFECTIONS AT THE EDGE OF THE COLORED END PAPERS (PHOTO 11). THE JACKET IS COMPLETE WITH PRICE INTACT. IT HAS SOME SOILING, CREASING AND TONING. JACKET WOULD QUALIFY AS VERY GOOD PLUS (PHOTO 3) THIS BOOK IS SIGNED ON THE BLANK FRONT END PAPER AND DATED 1965. IT IS INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY ALFRED P SLOAN AND THEN SIGNED BELOW BY JOHN MCDONALD AND BELOW THAT BY CATHARINE STEVENS. (PHOTO 2) THIS IS NOT A STATED FIRST EDITION BUT WAS PRINTED IN 1964, THE YEAR THAT THE BOOK WAS FIRST PRINTED (PHOTO 5). DESPITE COPYRIGHT DATE OF 1963, THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS NUMBER BEGINS WITH "64" AND I THEREFORE ASSUME IT WAS ACTUALLY FIRST PRINTED IN 1964 IN THE UNITED STATES. I BELIEVE THERE IS A UK VERSION PRINTED IN 1963. THE BOOK IS TIGHT, SQUARE AND CLEAN INSIDE. NO CREASES OR TEARS. THE ONLY WRITING IS THE INSCRIPTIONS. THE OWNER OBVIOUSLY FELT THAT THIS BOOK SHOULD NOT BE HANDLED AFTER GETTING THE THREE SIGNATURES. Uncommon signed copy as Sloan died in early 1966, at 90 years old. I have not seen another copy signed by both editors also. Only a handful of business books have reached the status of a classic, having withstood the test of over thirty years' time. Even today, Bill Gates praises it is the best book to read on business, and Business Week has named it the number one choice for its "bookshelf of indispensable reading." My Years With General Motors became an instant bestseller when it was first published in 1963. It has since been used as a manual for managers, offering personal glimpses into the practice of the "discipline of management" by the man who perfected it. This is the story no other businessman could tell--a distillation of half a century of intimate leadership experience with a giant industry and an inside look at dramatic events and creative business management. I WILL ONLY SHIP THIS PRIORITY MAIL AND I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO INSURE WITHIN THE US. I utilize a third party EBAY supplied shipper for international sales. This is part of the Global Shipping Program. Please note the actual shipping cost before purchasing. That is not my shipping fee and I neither receive it nor know what the amount is. I have no control over import fees that may be charged. Please do not commit to "buy it now" until you have seen the shipping amount that you will be charged. Thank you. For International Buyers: Media Mail shipments only. Please note that, although you are likely paying very high shipping costs to have this item sent to you, I am not charging those costs. In the case of books, I utilize "media mail" to get the box to the third party shipper. "Media mail" is a very SLOW speed mailing process reserved for books and records that are potentially very heavy. If you cannot wait for my shipment to reach the third party shipper at a very slow pace, please contact me before purchasing and I can add a faster (and more expensive) alternative to the listing to get the item to the third party shipper maple MEDIA MAIL: The USPS allows books, records and other media to be mailed at a cheaper price than typical mail. It tends to be a much slower mailing process than standard mail. In addition, any employee of the USPS can open the package at ANY time for ANY reason to verify that what is inside is what should be inside. In most cases, the item is properly repackaged but in rare cases it is not, and an item can arrive damaged. As my feedback suggests, I package very carefully. If you receive a damaged item that has the appearance of having been poorly packaged, please contact me prior to leaving feedback so that it can be addressed. PLEASE NOTE: For book sales, I virtually always include a vinyl bag tightly wrapped on the exterior. This is an attempt to prevent any USPS employee from opening the package for inspection as it would be time consuming for them to repackage it. This is done simply because my packaging is done more carefully than their repackaging and also to protect the book from the elements. The vinyl bag covers cardboard protection and you can simply cut the bag open (carefully) and remove the contents. The cardboard protection is also typically held with tape and cutting in the obvious places will allow the cardboard to pop right open, exposing the book (in another protective vinyl bag). Using this method, you should be able to open any book I send in under a minute. No "buzz saw" is required. Thank you
