Description: You are bidding on one showy little luthier's or violin maker's wood plane as pictured.The plane including the blade are not marked. It looks commercially made, but I don't recognize it. It is compassed or rounded both when viewed from either side, and when viewed from either end.Everything is steel or cast iron, with a black finish on the body. Width of the body at the widest point is about 13/16", and length measured along the sole is about 1-15/16". Width of the blade is about 5/8", and overall length is about a 32nd over 1-3/4". The blade has the small slot in the middle for the locking screw to pass through. The plane features: --- the cast iron body, again compassed in both directions. The area under the iron appears to be solid cast iron.--- the knurled front knob. --- the locking screw to secure the blade, and the upper screw to limit the upward travel and adjust the blade.The plane weighs only 2.6 ounces on my postal scale. Condition of the plane is good, with some scattered pitting or roughness on the bottom and sides of the body, and wear to the nickel finish. The iron is very good, with some scratches from a prior cleaning, and the cap has a few tiny chips in the lower edge. The adjuster operates nicely. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system? Please don't ask, the answer is no.INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada. If you are in Canada, ask for what the shipping would cost, but be prepared for it to be $$$$$. AUCTIONS: I won’t end an auction listing early to sell it to you directly. As a bidder, I really dislike going back at the end of an auction to bid, only to discover that the seller had ended the auction early.
