Description: Traditional Original Shipibo This is an authentic Shipibo Hand Painted Geometric Design Textile Tapestry. The design represents Shipibo cosmology and are drawn with natural berry pigments and/or dye from bark on cotton fabric. The colors are black, brown & white/cream. Unlike the modern colorful embodied work that the Shipibo are now producing, this is Traditional Original Shipibo work which is now rarely seen and hard to find. Painting on garments and other items with natural pigments is the way that the Shipibo used to decorate, before they started using embroidery. This item came from the Amazon Rainforest approximately six hours from Pulcapa Peru. The dimensions of the textile are: 63" long by 1' 1/2" wide.
