Description: Mid-century modern Shields Fifth Avenue ceramic ashtray, key holder, or trinket dish of a sleepy hound dog dressed in striped PJs with cap, housecoat / cigar robe, and slippers. Made in Japan. Shields Fifth Avenue was a men's jewelry store in New York City that was active from the late 1940s to the late 1960s. Very unique old piece. Measures appropriately 6” long x 4” wide x 5” high. Original sticker on bottom reads: Shields Fifth Avenue 0481-138-195 Japan Has some paint wear and crazing consistent with age. Otherwise in good vintage condition - no chips, cracks, repairs. A great conversation piece, and a wonderful gift for dog lovers and figurine collectors alike.
