Description: Condition Continued: There are also a few light fingerprinty spots on the rear side of the blank rear end paper. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It's in very solid shape. The front cover is quite clean. The rear cover has a few of those light tan spots off the top edge and a couple of others elsewhere. There's a bit of scuffing at the spine ends, also one or two tiny specks of it on the front cover. I don't see any tears anywhere. There is some spotting/foxing on the rear flap, a little bit of the same just off the top edge of the front flap. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I've had it in a fitted protective cover for as long as I've owned the book which goes back a number of years. The flaps contain 'a partial list of titles in the American Century Series, distinguished paperback books in the fields of literature and history.' You can read a little bit about this book from the photo of the rear cover of the jacket. Hill And Wang, New York, 1962. Hardcover in Dust Jacket. Edited, and with an Introduction, by Maxwell Geismar. This is the only non-library hardcover first edition I've seen for sale on the Internet. Once listed, it will be the Only signed copy for sale on the Internet. And, the inscription is to the editor's wife (I have several other listings of books that the writer Maxwell Geismar inscribed to his wife). The inscription reads 'To Anne, And if I repeat myself with this hard-cover, so did Sherwood; but I also repeat my love, respect, gratitude and thanks, Max, Harrison, Oct 6th, 1962.' The Geismar's lived in Harrison, New York (Westchester County).
