"Shelled by an Unseen Foe"-Col Fiske-1916-#8 World's War Series-1 Illust-WWI

Description: Offered is the antique book "Shelled by an Unseen Foe", written by Col. James Fiske and published in Chicago by Saalfield. The book, number eight in the "World's War" series, has a copyright date of 1916 and appears to be a first edition. There is one illustration, the frontispiece. This is an uncommon find; at the time of original listing I could not find any others for sale on eBay, except for modern reprints, and only a few elsewhere. The book is approx. 7 1/2" x 5 1/4" and contains 246 pages, plus a full-page ad for Mead Bicycles (see next-to-last photo) and several additional pages in the back advertising other books by the publisher. It is in good to very good condition. The colorful picture hard cover has only light wear, the picture on the front still vivid. There is a faded on the spine near the bottom, but otherwise the black words and picture are still vivid here, also. There is no cracking inside either the front or back cover. The green and white picture endpapers have yellowed but are mostly clean. I see no missing or torn pages and all of the pages are well-attached to the binding. The pages have browned a great deal but they are generally clean and clear otherwise. I see no writing in the book except for the name of a previous but not original owner written on one of the blank pages in the front. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions.
