Description: You are purchasing a: Sheila's Wood Figurine Decor CONWAY SCENIC RAILROAD STATION North Conway, New Hampshire The first of the railroads' histories began with the building of the tracks into North Conway in June 1872 and ending in 1972 with the abandonment of all train service into North Conway. Its second history began in the early 60's, when two prominent North Conway businessmen, C. P. Reed and W. Levy purchased the depot property. Its future was still uncertain. In 1968, D. A. Smith, on a railfan club trip to North Conway, thought about the possibility of converting the deserted facility into an operating rail museum. Smith, soon thereafter, approached Reed and Levy and through their collaboration (six and a half long and frustrating years later) the Conway Scenic Railroad was operned for business with its first public run on Sunday, August 4, 1974 from North Conway to Conway.
