Some Book Reviews:5/5 stars Good coverage of Last Days signs!Though the author admittedly stepped out on a limb and put some dates in (that are already passed) for the fulfillment of prophecy, he has a firm grip on the heavenly signs and symbols that are given for us. I've learned that "lesser light" signs (eclipses) are indications of coming or recently past judgment, and "greater light" signs (stars in conjunction, such as the Revelation 12 sign on September 17, 2017) are announcements and rejoicing that God is moving to accomplish His work. One of the things that my husband and I especially have liked is his Appendix A, a very educational summary of the Jewish/Hebrew seven annual Holy Days, and their connection to Christ's first earthly mission and His second coming in glory. We'll be reading that again; there is much to learn. Clearly the author has done significant research into the meanings and symbols of these Holy Days, as well as their conjunction with Christ's mortal mission and His second coming in glory. A comment that I have: I see a great many parallels to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, and "The great and terrible day of the Lord". Yet, I have seen few last days commenters make that connection. Maybe I'm completely off the track, but the Day of Atonement is to cleanse souls prior to the rejoicing of the Feast of Tabernacles, and the earth has to be cleansed prior to the Second Coming of the Lord. In my opinion, the great and terrible day of the Lord will be on and around the Day of Atonement. (I'm not putting in any dates!!)If you're interested in the signs of the Second Coming, read this book. IT was so packed with enlightening information that I had to think about it a LOT as I read. Some of it I knew about but he opened my eyes even more on those things. I spent almost as much time reading the notes as I did the rest of the book.I gave up on trying to read the notes while I was reading it and just read them after finishing the book. Even the notes were amazing. He has a massive amount of knowledge which he is able to pull together in an understandable fashion.One of the more expensive books I have bought, but well worth it. An over all mind expanding read.--Leveda Troy About author, Val Brinkerhoff:Val resigned from the LDS Church two years after this book was published in 2017 because his Stake President disapproved of his focus on God rather than the Church, or what he was writing. He was following the path of Alma from the Book of Mormon, seeking to know God as a truth seeker. What Val saw in scripture—in the Old and New Testaments, the Book of Mormon, and other sacred texts—did not align with what was being taught over the pulpit. Believing Psalm 118:8, which emphasizes fearing God over man, Val eventually had to make a choice. His Stake President insisted he follow the direction of church leaders—the "arm of flesh"—by removing much of the content from his website or face disciplinary action. After prayerful consideration, Val chose to resign so he could continue seeking God and sharing what he was learning from his relationship with God and through scripture. Val believes it was the right choice for him. Although he remains a believer in the core truths of the King James Version Bible, the Book of Mormon, and some of the foundational concepts Joseph Smith introduced in the early history of the LDS Church, Val now focuses on God's word in all scripture, including non-biblical texts. He stays grounded in the Old and New Testaments as primary sources, rather than the doctrines and traditions of men often found in corporate churches, which, he believes, are too focused on "getting gain," as taught in the Book of Mormon.
