Seth Thomas Metronome de Maelze Works Well 9" x 4.5" x 4.5" Walnut Wood Case

Description: Charming gift from son to father. This is a Seth Thomas metronome in a walnut wood case. Based on comparison to others I see online, I believe this is a model #10 E873-006. Original label on cover inside is gone – photo provided of what this label would look like as last photo. Brass “Seth Thomas” label on front. Hinged cover lifts off. Slider weight moves up and down rod to change speed as indicated on plaques. Has 1989 personal inscription from father to son. While usually that would be an indication of origin date, the particular estate this came from was 100% 1800 and 1700’s antiques. It is entirely possible this metronome is older and was already an antique when gifted. Inscription reads “2/12/89 ~ JRA (Dad) ~ Now time is ALL that separates us. I love you, too ~ SRA (Son)”. Note: the very last photo shows what the label SHOULD look like. I include this for info purposes only. This is a stock photo, and not present on the actual item for sale. Condition: Good working condition. Only mentionable condition issues are 1) missing label on interior of cover, 2) Slight moisture discoloration around base rim, 3) Inscription on underside as photographed, and 4) slider weight appears to be missing tiny center screw, but that does not affect weight’s ability to stay in place during use. Wind up mechanism and timer appears to be in perfect working order. Natural patina on brass mounts. Dimensions: 9" Tall x 4.5” Wide x 4.5” Deep. Unpacked weight: 1 pound, 3.2 oz.
