The trays have 3 compartments. The larger one is meant to hold your sandwich or snack. The square based cup fits nicely and securely in the square compartment on the tray while the top of the cup transitions to round. The compartment next to the cup holder was designed as an ashtray with an indent for holding a cigarette. If you are not a smoker, the 2nd square compartment could be used to hold dips or small goodies. The round beads on the ball tabbed handles and rims is such a neat accent. The cup has a Candle Wick style handle that is a circle of round beads. The ribbed bottom add to the quaintness of the tray. The glass truly sparkles and is very eye-catching with the combination of the detailed molding and the beading. The patterns name is Orchard Crystal, but it has also been referred to as Ribs and Beads or Rib & Ball. CONDITION: Although classified as used, the condition of these 4 party sets is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, hairlines, rubbings, or scratches. There is no cloudiness to the sparkling glass. See all the photos to judge for yourself. DIMENSIONS: The trays handle to handle are 10 3/4" with a width of 6" and a height of 7/8". The square bottom cups have a round top diameter of 2 11/16" with a height of 2 3/8". The capacity of the cups is 6 ounces. HISTORY/MARKS: Hazel Atlas Glass Company was founded in Washington, PA in 1902 with the merger of 4 companies including Atlas Glass & Metal Co. (founded 1896) and Hazel Glass Co. (founded 1887). Hazel-Atlas eventually grew to become one of the largest glass manufacturing firms in the world. The company produced milk glass from the late 1950’s to the 1960’s. The company ceased to exist in 1977. Hazel Atlas Glass Company Washington, Pennsylvania operated from 1902-1977.
