Description: Set of 10 exquisite hand painted neoclassical style plates by Minton. Plates are ivory/cream in color and feature a large center putti surrounded in black and hand signed by artist "Thabney?". Similar in style to Pate-Sur-Pate putti plates of the same age but painted rather than slip decorated. The putti decoration on each plate appears to be underglaze, possibly transferred, while the black is hand painted around the figures. The artist signature is hand painted and unique on each plate. The rims of the plates have raised molded floral festoons surrounded by a gilded edge. The plates have three separate scenes - there is 4 of one scene, and 3 each of the other two scenes for a total of 10. Marked on the back of each plate with a pink Mintons printed mark, and cypher for the year 1929. Also hand marked with the pattern number PA.2332. Each plate measures 10.5" in diameter. Plates are in excellent condition for their age. There is some light scratching to the black center paint on one plate and some very light discoloration to a few of the raised festoons on the border.
