Description: Visit My eBay Store: House-O-Surplus Buy with confidence! we offer FREE 30 day domestic returns on most items. DESCRIPTION: Buyer will receive the exact pair of heavy ribbed glass bowls shown in the photographs. Nothing else included or implied. These bowls pre-date the use of acid etched trademarks at Baccarat and St. Louis so they are unsigned. These antique bowls are made of the highest quality thick & heavy pressed flint glass. They brightly sparkle and catch ALL the light! The ribs and grooves are prismatic. Long sustained ringing sound when flicked with a finger. The top rims are wide and flat with a slight overhang. In old French glass catalogs this wide flat rim style is found on various similar looking bowls with totally different functions, 1) small toiletry (“Bol à barbe” beard bowls), 2) (“jatte à Eponge” sponge bowls) and 3) small barware/tableware “ice tubs”. The foot/sham is very thick. Circa 1860s-70s. SIZE: 5.5” Diameter x 2.75” tall at rim CONDITION REPORT: Used. Antique. Very nice condition for its age, with one small foot edge flake/chip (photographed), no cracks, no repairs, no sickness or cloudiness whatsoever. The pontils on the foot bottom are fully ground and polished. They both have normal to heavy use-wear scuffs on the foot bottom which is indicative of their antique age. They both have normal light use-wear on the inside surface. Nothing excessive that distracts from the beauty of these pieces. They are fantastic pieces of antique pressed glass. As always due to age and prior usage, the item may have slight imperfections such as minor scuffs, scratches, trim wear, and/or slight manufacturing defects. Please view all photos as they are part of this condition report. Ask questions prior to purchase.
