Description: CYPRAEA UMBILIA ARMENIACA DIPROTODON (EX BRUNNEA) Lorenz, F. & Beals, M., 2013Giant size, live collected super rare, possibly even extinct, ssp. of the rarest Umbilia. Super mature, heavy (161gram) shell with well developed base and callus. Perfect terminals, no growth lines, nice, rich color. There are some invisible without magnification tiny blisters near anterior terminal. F+++/Gem-. Live collected by diver in 1996 at 30 meters in Thorny Passage off Port Lincoln - Great White Shark capital of Australia. There were no new specimens of U. diprotodon found in the last 25 years. I did 5 days of diving (2018) guided by expert diver collected majority of this specie, but I got zero result on the ground were this shell use to live. Possibly this ssp. extinct. Nearly impossible to get this specie in size over 110 mm. in any conditions in modern days.
