Description: Schumann & Schreider Bavaria Reticulated Plate US Zone 1946-1949 Greek Goddesses Exquisite Decorative Schumann & Schreider Hand Decorated 10 1/2" Reticulated 8 sided PLATE, Greek Goddesses, circa 1946-1949 from Schwarzenhammer, Bavaria, Germany DESCRIPTION: This features a scene of Greek Goddesses in the center cartouche surround by 8 cartouches of reticulated designs. The background wash is a creamy white while the reticulated cartouches are a brighter white. See the photos to fully investigate this beautiful plate. CONDITION: The condition of this decorative plate is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There is only very slight rubbing to the gold surrounding the center. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, other rubbings, scratches or hairlines. Please refer to the photos to see how classically beautiful this is. DIMENSIONS: The elegant plate has a diameter of 10 1/2" and a height of 1 7/16". HISTORY/MARKS: The first porcelain factory in the town of Schwarzenhammer, Bavaria, Germany opened in 1905 and was known as Schumann & Schreider Porzellanfabrik Schwarzenhammer. Christoph Schumann (brother of Carl Schumann 1) with his father-in-law Karl August Schreider, a wealthy land owner established the factory in 1905 growing to 150 employees by 1913. The company slowly expanded to around 400 employees by 1937. The factory remained in business until 1984 producing household and decorative porcelain and gift articles. The mark in gold is mark #1-11 as identified by the website Porcelain Marks & More (PM&M). Since this mark has the U.S. Zone notation, it is dated to 1946-1949.
