A New Edition, with numerous illustrations, by Sam Weller, Jr. and Alfred Crowquill, Esq. Published in 1838 by Carey, Lea And Blanchard, Philadelphia. 1838 1 Volume, US Illustrated Edition. 8 pages of ads in back. 2 pages of ad in front. 20 inserted plates, 1 of which are title pages. Includes 19 illustrations. Book complete but page numbering goes from 2 on one side of the page to 14 on the other side of the page, but the text is correct. Overall, the book is in Fair Condition. Book is in period cloth boards taped at the spine in black tape. The cloth boards have wear, stains, with chips along the edges. The top and bottom of the spine are scuffed and dented and the corners are bumped, scuffed and chipped. The spine and both boards are loose and you can see the internal webbing from inside the back board. There is a nameplate, by a previous owner, pasted inside the front board. Internally, there are 388 pages. There is wear and browning to the pages. There are nicks/chips along the edges of the pages. There is writing by a previous owner on the front end page.
