The camera takes photos fine, zooms in/out fine, flash works fine, buttons work fine, and the SD card slot works fine. It takes AA batteries to power the device. Batteries not included. The last photos of the VHS clamshell case are photos taken using the camera itself. The clamshell case is not included with the listing, it was used a prop. The photos were taken from approximately the same distance away from the case, but different zoom in/out distances were used and some photos were taken using the flash (the ones with a glare were taken using the flash).
