There are several other costs associated with Shipping aside from the actual USPS cost to ship which varies with each location in the US. For example I sent a pair of skis to a town in Mass/ East Coast and it cost me $58 at USPS plus the $9 ski box, plus $2 bubble wrap, plus $1 in tape, plus the hour it took me to package up the skis securely, plus gas and wear & tear to my vehicle driving to the post office.
