SALE...Aztec calendar, hand painted art in "amate" (bark paper) wooden frame

Description: This is a very nice Mexican amate (bark) paper artwork handmade by Guerrero artisans. "Amate" paper (bark paper) is still created using the same millennium technique at Mesoamerica. It is made fully by hand from the bark of the "ficus" tree (with sacred meaning). The fibers coming out of the boiled bark are softened with flat volcanic rocks and left to dry in the open air on wooden boards and is fully natural. When the paper process is finished, it is then hand painted by indigenous people with bright colored acrylic paints, so each is a real "one of a kind" artwork. The aztec calendar or the Sun Stone was carved in "basalt" a solidified lava stone, by the dominant group in Mesoamerica 700 years ago. It represents deities and is a count of each day, grouped in 52 yrs. periods. Besides the great mysteries behind the stone, it is also a nice representation of many ancient Mexican gods and nowadays an awesome piece of art. This is a hand painted drawing depicting the aztec calendar, made with acrylic paint and fully by hand at Mexico. To enhance the beauty of this art, I framed it with a handmade pine wooden frame made in my shop. The finish of the frame is rustic, it´s lightly stained and finished with several matte polyurethane coats. These are the dimensions of this art: The frame is 17 x 17 inches and a-1/2 inch depth. The "amate" painting is about 9 x 9 inches. It comes with a nice blue high quality mat to embellish the art. You with also get it with a a protective glass as shown in the pictures. The frame comes with a golden metal alligator hanger and the back is fully covered with kraft paper for dust protection, as quality craftsmanship should be. At the bottom of the back there are also some bumpers to allow the air to pass through the back to protect the art and your wall from moisture.
