Description: This extremely rare find of a rattan sewing notions basket is OVAL in shape and in beautiful condition. most sewing baskets are commonly found in the round shape. The center of both the top and bottom of this sewing basket which holds needles and small threads, is designed so that pressure on the basket will not collapse due to the center being the High Point. Both the bottom and the top have been painstakingly woven to create this design. Even though it is a sewing notions container, any other small trinkets can be kept in it and used as an alternate function. I remember my grandmother using this when I was a child. I remember thinking how old fashioned it looked and how amazing the wicker had stood up from often Usage. I have never seen its exact equal and all of my research has not turned up one exactly like it. I saw her using it during the 1940’s. I have recently inherited it and have no knowledge of its age other than it is definitely from pre-World War II era. The colors have faded over the years since there is leftover red and green coloring on the wicker /rattan. I hate to sell it, however due to the economy I need every penny I can get so I am willing to part with my grandmothers notions basket and the memories that come with it. I am hoping that the future owner will appreciate the complexity of the art put into creating it as well as the uniqueness of its design. And as usual, I will ship with the utmost of care. Thank you for looking.
