Description: Ruth Rowland Nichols [1901 1960] was a aviation pioneer who began her aviation career in 1919 and was the only women yet to hold simultaneous world records for speed, altitude and distance. Beginning in the late 1920's she worked for the Fairchild Aviation Corporation and was a founding member along with Amelia Earhart of the Ninety-Nines, an organization of women pilots. During the 1930's she set numerous flight records while working for Fairchild which included beating Charles Lindbergh's record for a cross-country flight. During her aviation career she flew every type of aircraft developed, including the dirigible, glider, autogiro, seaplane, biplane, triplane, transport and supersonic jet. Sadly, she died in 1960 at the age of 59 from an overdose of barbiturates while suffering from depression. Listed for auction is the autograph of Ruth Rowland Nichols signed on a page. The autograph is signed ''Ruth R. Nichols'' in black fountain pen and the page measures 5.00 x 3.00 inches. The page has a vertical fold and a trivial paperclip impression otherwise it is in very good condition and will be accompanied with its original transmittal envelope. The autograph is authentic, hand signed and is a nice example of this noted aviation pioneer.
