Description: This is a beautiful May 13th, 1957 playbill from the Post-Broadway engagement of the THORNTON WILDER comedy "THE MATCHMAKER" at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. (The production opened December 5th, 1955 at the Royale Theatre in New York City, moved to the Booth Theatre on November 12th, 1956 and ran for a combined 486 performances before going on the road.) ..... Best known as the source of the JERRY HERMAN musical comedy hit "HELLO, DOLLY!", the play starred RUTH GORDON as "Mrs. Dolly Gallagher Levi", LORING SMITH and PATRICIA CUTTS and featured ARTHUR HILL, ETHEL GRIFFIES, PETER BAYLISS, PATRICK McALINNEY, ROBERT MORSE, ALEXANDER DAVION, LEONARDO CIMINO, CHARITY GRACE, MARI LYNN, DIANA RIVERS, TIMOTHY FINDLEY, VAL WRENNE and CHRISTINE THOMAS .....
