Description: Bronze Russell & Erwin Swirl Pattern 1891 Entrance / Vestibule Set With Original Key E-10800 Beautiful deep warm patina on one of Rodolphe Christesen’s most celebrated and rare designs. I’ve completely restored the lock but only cleaned the plates and knobs. There is a tiny green spec of paint on each knob. I completely restored the lock but did a very light cleaning on the knob and plate because I wanted to be very cautious about not losing any of the deep warm patina - but more cleaning could easily be done. The minimal amount of remaining surface grime can easily be removed with a brass brush (do not get too aggressive and certainly stay away from steel wire brushes). This is a very complete original set right down to the key (extremely rare to find a key for one of these locks and this is the original key which still functions) I’ve cleaned and lubricated the early 1891 R&E cylinder lock and it functions beautifully. The original split shaft is also included and works well. The outer knob is larger than the inner knob - as designed. I guarantee this lock for life. This is a right hand swing lock. This auction includes a large plate and a rosette as was originally intended (and as was originally installed together on the door it was removed from) but I do have another large plate if needed. The key only functions on one side of the lock - as designed. From the Antique Door Knob Collector Association: “Simple elements combined with stunning results.
