Description: Royal Rudolstadt Bisque Porcelain Candlestick #2704 Boy in Wolfskin L. Strauss & Son?Offering a handsome cream bisqueware figural candlestick probably of either Romulus or Remus carrying a bundle of sticks and wearing a wolfskin. Believed to be manufactured by L Strauss & Sons of Rudolstadt, Thuringia for the New York & Rudolstadt Pottery Company around 1900. This arrangement lasted between 1882 and 1918. Overall height is 13 3/4" or 35cms. It is in very good to excellent condition and fully backstamped with the RW mark and various other impressed numbers including No. 2704 which may be a model number. There is a slight thud when I strike bobeche which suggests a hairline crack although I couldn't find one. However, there is a separation in the stick at a height of about 9 1/2" where it is glued together which is so precise and even that I believe it was intentional. There is a small old chip under the rim of the bobeche at around five o'clock. It is quite heavy weighing in at 2 1/4lbs. before packaging.
