Description: A Delightful and Rare Royal Doulton Cabinet Plate Deep Cobalt Blue Border with Raised Gilding Hand Painted Pink Moss Roses to the Central CavettoSigned C. (Charles) HartMade for Tiffany & Company New York c.1890 On offer here is this quite stunning Royal Doulton hand painted and richly gilded cabinet plate, made for the American market and marked for Tiffany's of New York.The central cavetto is hand painted with a bouquet of pink Moss Roses, buds and foliage and is signed by C. (Charles) Hart, this is then encircled by a broad, inner frame of acid-etched gilding, in turn surrounded by a broad rim which is enamelled in deep cobalt blue and divided into 12 segments of alternating pillared portico's and classical urns filled with mixed flowers and foliage, executed in richly raised gilding. Each floral basket is surrounded by a gilt arc of raised jewelling.Charles Hart was a highly renowned Royal Doulton artist working between 1880 and 1927 . He specialised in painting floral works as well as English landscapes, game birds and fish.The reverse of the plate has the classical characteristic of a gilded foot rim, typical of the highest quality wares of the Doulton works. Bearing the green printed mark for Royal Doulton - England with Crown and Lion above and additionally stamped in puce below: Tiffany & Company, New York.There is also what appears to be the hand painted gilders mark in black of: 'B.B.590' as well as well as another similar below this: 'H 899'.Condition ReportThis fine cabinet plate is in EXCELLENT condition.
