Description: (ROYAL) DOULTON LAMBETH ART POTTERYStunning Stoneware Silver-Rimmed Salad Bowlwith Matching Silver Plated Servers This absolutely gorgeous Salad Bowl Set with Matching Silver Plated Servers was part of the Whitely Collection, as evidenced by the blue sticker on the bottom of the bowl. The Whitely Collection was founded in 1999 and was an innovative company devoted to bringing the most unique and rare items to their customers. They had/have an unwavering commitment to showcasing the finest in British Art Pottery. The enamel colors are typical for Doulton Lambeth: beautiful cobalt/indigo blue, sea green, earthy browns, and subtle white highlights in geometric patterns and deeply incised in places. This set is in superb antique condition. The bowl is hallmarked for 1881, with the designer Annie Gentle's signature/initials. It also has the mark for Edith Lupton, one of Doulton's better artists. There is one potential tiny area of enamel loss -- hard to tell even under magnification -- see photos. There is also one brown spot that appears to be a little extra enamel in the firing -- see photos. The Salad Servers are hallmarked with J.G. & Sons Cupid Silver Plate stamp. J.G. stands for John Grinsell, a renowned Birmingham silversmith. There is very minor wear to the silver surface of the servers. The Salad Bowl measures 9" in diameter across the top. It is just under 5.5" high. RARE to find these bowls with the servers, and in such amazing condition.
