The double handles depict Lord/Baron Thomas Fairfax and King Charles I. Oliver Cromwell (1599 - 1658), English statesman and Lord protector of the Republican Commonwealth. When differences between King Charles I and Parliament erupted into the English Civil Wars, Cromwell became one of the leading generals on the Parliamentary side, winning many notable victories, including the Battles of Marston Moor and Naseby. He was widely regarded as one of the most important statesmen in English History
