Description: Royal Bath & East Cliff Hotel, Bournemouth. 1903 Antique Postcards PUBL: Tuck. This is a very nice ANTIQUE postcard from 1903 that was published by Tuck & Sons. This was published early in their career, and it is not numbered. Being from this early era, the postcard is truly a very valuable antique. The postcard shows the area of BOURNEMOUTH and "looking towards Corfe Castle". The front of the postcard says: "The Royal Bath and East Cliff Hotel". This is a well drawn, colorful and attractive antique postcard and the artist is: F. Richards. It is part of the "Artistic Series". It is pleasing to look at and it would be very good to add to a collection. This postcard is truly a "WORK OF ART". The postcard looks like a painting and it is very detailed with the impressive architecture, background skyline, water scenes, etc. This postcard has nice scenes with historical buildings, and gives you a glimpse of life back in the very early 1900's era. Also, this type of postcard is a souvenir of a historical and beautiful area, and it makes you want to learn more about the area, and even go and see the area yourself! This postcard was published by Raphael Tuck & Sons, who is an important and valued publisher. They published from 1866 through the mid 1960s in England. They first started with publishing Christmas cards printed in their native Prussia, Germany. They are noted for high quality postcards and ephemera, which have a huge appeal to collectors. Tuck's "Oilette" Series was the first VIEWS postcards published in 1903 and came in sets. These became their most popular cards, and a "standard" model for other publishers. The firm was so well respected that they had the honor of being appointed in 1894 by Queen Victoria as the "Art Publishers to their Majesties the King & Queen of the United Kingdom." The postcard is UNPOSTED and in very good condition. The back is a divided back, although it does give direction that says: "For Address Only." It was published during the UNDIVIDED BACK era. Most likely, the postcard was "Printed in Germany" (Saxony). This is a BETTER POSTCARD and good for a collector. The postcard will keep its value! It is sleeved and in good condition. However, please expect some creases, stains and edge wear due to its age. The photos show the postcard and its back. The postcard is shipped in a sturdy envelope.
