A wonderful Manual wind Ladies 9 carat yellow Gold Rolex watch, bearing Swiss assay marks. This is a wonderful time piece from horology’s most famous name. The original dial is signed ‘Rolex Precision’, the case and the Precision movement are both signed Rolex. Serviced by a Rolex specialist watchmaker, with no issues to report keeping accurate time and in good running order, ready to treasure and enjoy! Rolex marketed this watch to the Lady who placed perfection before price and "Created by perfectionists for perfectionists" and it's easy to see why when you look at this wonderful sophisticated example. Encased in a unique decorative 9 carat gold case which has been preserved remarkably well with signs of light wear, the ‘pièce de résistance’ of this piece is of course the elegant case design which has been profusely made and incredibly characteristic defining the watch’s aesthetic. They also add to the watch's proportions quite significantly at a height of 33mm from end to end. At 16mm wide this watch is a slightly larger ladies size for the era in which it was made although still very very small compared to modern Rolex watches - This Rolex is a very rare find, certainly in such good condition, and will simply never go out of style. It is the epitome of style and elegance, not to pass! The Original Dial: The dial is signed Rolex with an applied Coronet sitting proudly below ‘12’ o clock along with ‘Swiss Made’ at the very bottom. This is a unique silvered dial with some patina. Carries raised gold gilt arrow markers and Arabic numerals to the dial with matching gold gilt hour and minute ‘lance’ style hands which are in good condition for the age. Dial has patina and marks all over commensurate with age and wear - Please observe photographs carefully. Original Crystal: Perspex crystal in good condition for the age. Original Movement: Signed Rolex Precision 17 Rubis Swiss Patented Superbalance - Rolex went to considerable trouble and expense to ensure its small Calibre series movements performed equally as well as its larger gents movements, and they succeeded! These are indeed high precision movements and the example here is running beautifully – The high grade 17 jewel hand-wound movement is in incredibly clean and sparkling condition and has been serviced by a Rolex specialist watchmaker with no issues to report, keeping accurate time. This particular movement is in beautiful condition and with similar care and regular servicing, say every 3 to 4 years, one can expect this watch to continue to run very happily for many more decades to come! Original Case: This unique case is a solid two-piece case with a wonderful design feature. Solid 9 carat yellow Gold case measures 16mm wide excluding the crown, bearing hallmarks and sits 33mm high lug to lug. Has surface hairline scratches associated with precious metals commensurate with age and wear. Overall in good condition with no deep scratches or dents. Case Back Cover Outer: Bearing Rolex coronet which has faded over time and Swiss assay marks. The press fit case-back clicks into place with a firm and satisfying ‘pop’, indicating it is a nice tight fit and is of full thickness. Has surface hairline scratches associated with precious polished metals commensurate with age and wear. There are no dents. Case Back Cover Inner: Inside the case-back is signed Rolex Geneve Swiss with traditional Rolex ornate pattern. Bearing Swiss assay marks 9K 0375 numbered 8000. In Good condition. Period service markers present. Crown/Winder: The crown is unsigned, possibly later service replacement. In good functioning order. Aftermarket Gold Plated Bracelet: Gold plated ladder bracelet has plating wear and scratches associated with base polished plated metals commensurate with age and wear. The links have moderate stretch. Additional Information; While the gents Rolex Precision was Rolex’s best selling watch throughout the 1950s and ’60s, many will be surprised to learn there was also a ladies Precision, sold at the same time. These made up around 10% of all the Rolex Precisions produced. Half of these were sold on leather straps and half on integral Rolex gold bracelets. These were expensive watches at the time, because it was much more difficult to produce the much smaller 19.7mm diameter Rolex Calibre series movements, to the same required levels of accuracy and reliability as the movements in the larger gents watches. It is not quite so well known that Rolex was actually founded in the UK in London 1905 and it was not until 1919 that the company transferred its base of operations to Geneva, Switzerland. It is also a misconception that the world of luxury watches is a gentlemans one, as the first recorded wristwatch was actually designed for a lady.
