Description: WebVinyl Presents! Roland Kirk “The Inflated Tear” Original Vinyl 33-1/3 RPM 12” Post-Bop / Progressive / Jazz Record Album! No Reserve! DESCRIPTION Roland Kirk - “The Inflated Tear” Atlantic Records SC 1502 (Stereo). Hard to Find Original Post Bop / Progressive / Fusion / Jazz album from Roland Kirk along with Ron Burton, Steve Novosel, Dick Griffith and Jimmy Hopps. On the Green, Orange and White Atlantic labels with “1841 Broadway” address in the rim print but no Warner “Balloon” logo. In the Original Cover with No Promo markings or Barcode. I believe this is a Monarch re-pressing from between late 1968 to mid 1973 as that is when the noted label variation was used. There are several minor variations of this LP, this example has the “SC 1502” catalog number on the Labels, Spine and both Front and Back Cover. The Atlantic Logo in the lower left corner of the cover appears to be Yellow rather than Tan (at least in comparison to the border of the cover which is definitely Tan). Includes the Original Printed Atlantic Inner Sleeve. This is a Monarch pressing as indicated by the Matrix / Runout Vinyl markings which read: Matrix / Runout (Side A Label): CSG-A-681295-MOMatrix / Runout (Side B Label): CSG-A-681296-MOMatrix / Runout (Both Sides [Monarch Records Logo] Stamped): "MR" in a circle Matrix / Runout (Side A Runout, Etched): CSG-A-6219[6 scratched out]5 - BB LW[sideways] AT Δ12062 RG WMatrix / Runout (Side B Runout, Etched): CSG-A-62196 - BB AT LW[sideways] Δ12062-X RG W CONDITION The Sleeve is in good shape. There is some slight ring wear and corner softening / wear. There is some farily pronounced wear on the top and bottom seams and the top seam is part split about 2” from the opening edge. There is what I think is a promo sawcut in the upper left but it could be a small tear? Still solid with no stains, writing, etc. and would rate VG overall. The Vinyl itself is in clean Glossy condition looking lightly played. If you look closely you can spot a few light scuffs and marks. At least a good VG visually and plays mostly perfectly except for 2-3 soft tics / crackles in side one, song one. The labels show a couple faint spindle trails but are otherwise Near Mint. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words: Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
