Bill allowed him to attend school at the prestigious Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, California where he met his bride to be, Barbara Howell, also an artist. With his art training, Rod made a lifelong career in commercial and fine arts, working most of the time in the aerospace industry, and well known in the Mankato, MN area for developing the first Commercial Art Program at what is now South-Central College. About the Delta Queen from Wiki The Delta Queen is an American sternwheel steamboat. She is known for cruising the major rivers that constitute the tributaries of the Mississippi River, particularly in the American South, although she began service in California on the Sacramento River delta for which she gets her name. Built in 1927, she is the last surviving steam-powered overnight passenger boat plying the watershed of the Mississippi. The Delta Queen was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and was subsequently declared a National Historic Landmark in 1989. She was honored as a "National Treasure" by the National Trust for Historic Preservation on September 21, 2013.
