Description: Writing on front - 'Rockaway'. Some surface wear, edge wear, and border wear. Stamped/Cancelled in Rockaway. In 1924, the Rockaway Railroad was owned by the Southern Pacific Railroad. The Pacific Railway and Navigation Company (PR&N) had originally constructed the line, but it was acquired by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1916. By 1924, the Southern Pacific Railroad was fully in control of the rail line through Rockaway, Oregon. This acquisition allowed Southern Pacific to expand its network and better serve the transportation needs of the Oregon coast.
