Description: "Rikio Takahashi - The Woodblock Prints" is a 208 page, 9"x12" hardcover written by Rikio Takahashi and published in 1998 in Japan by Abe Publishing. The text is in Japanese and English. Takahashi was a sosaku hanga ("creative prints") artist, and his work, produced from the 1940s to the 1990s, depicted traditional Japanese subjects in a modern, Western abstract style. Pages 25-112 reproduce many of these in color, followed by a catalogue raisonné by with small, black-and-white reproductions of all his prints (he died a year after publication, so almost all his work is here). There's an artist's statement, an essay by Masayoshi Homma, a chronology and bibliography. The book is in very good condition, in a good condition dust jacket. The mostly clear plastic jacket is torn at the spine bottom, chipped at the top, and scratched (mainly on the back). The paper-covered boards show light edge wear, a small ding along the front right edge. There's a small pencil mark to the ffep. The interior is otherwise unmarked, the binding tight.
