Text description beneath the picture (subject to any spelling errors due to the OCR program used) RHYL THE climate of Rhyl is celebrated for its mildness throughout the year, but the air in this place possesses, nevertheless, a bracing quality. It is noted also for its cleanliness, over £40,000 having been expended in completing the drainage system, and Rhyl is now well to the front in the matter of sanitation. The sands are greatly favoured by the younger fry, being sound and fairly extensive. The houses in the chief streets are very good, and the shops quite up to the average of Welsh watering-places. At Rhyl is the termination of the far-famed Vale of Clwyd, one of the noted excursions of the district. A fine marine lake of forty acres in extent has been constructed, and here boating and yachting can be had at all hours of the day. In the centre of the sea-front is the Queen's Palace, which possesses one ot the finest dancing floors in the kingdom, covering over 3,000 square yards. The scenery in the vicinity is exceedingly fine, and within short distances are many objects of interest, all to be reached on foot. Prestatyn, about four miles distant, is rapidly becoming popular with those who prefer a quieter abiding place than bustling, much frequented Rhyl, and there are trips to be made to St. Asaph (six miles), Denbigh (twelve miles), Dyserth (three miles), for its church, castle ruins, and waterfall, Holywell (thirteen miles), for St. Winifred's Well, one of the seven wonders of Wales, and Basingwerk Abbey, a fine old ruin within ten minutes' walk of the railway station. Bodelwyddan Church is internally almost entirely constructed of marble, and is hence known as the "marble church."
