Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 An account of the epic fighting retreat of the First Marine Division from the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea in December, 1950. Having advanced to the Yalu River, close to the Chinese border, the Division was faced by a massive invasion across the border by Chinese troops, who proceeded to try and wipe out the Division and score a major propaganda victory, as well as a military success. Unfortunately they didn’t reckon on the tenacity of the Marines, who fought an incredible rearguard action all the way back to their base at Hagaru, albeit at considerable cost. This account, based on survivor interviews and official records, shows in stark detail how the Marines somehow managed to keep going under enormous pressure both from the enemy and from the harsh Korean winter climate, and turned what could have been an expensive defeat into a victory of sorts. This 1989 Paperback is in very good condition, with no internal markings and nominal cover wear.
