*RESTORED* IBM PC 300PL Windows 98 SE Plus! DOS Vintage Retro Gaming Computer

Description: A mixture of brand-new and expertly refurbished used parts. My classic computers are a little more special than the others you see here on eBay. Mine come with new and refreshed versions of their old operating systems, and come loaded with lots of fun games and useful software. I think you will agree that my standard of cleanliness and presentation are a touch above. I have been building PCs for the last 23 years and have built over 300 computers in my career. I used computers like these back when they were new and relevant and have intimate knowledge and experience of how they work. --------------------- This computer: Is the second IBM 300PL I've restored. This in better condition that the last one. Lock mechanism didn't need to be drilled out this time because we have the keys, and the lock works! This one was also free of the capacitor plague that had to be fixed in the other one. It does have an identical PS/2 mouse issue that was also present in the last 300PL I worked on. For whatever reason, the PS/2 mouse port on these computers goes bad. It shows up with a yellow bang in device manager and cannot be fixed. I have disabled the port. This means you will need a USB or Serial mouse to use this PC. The only other issue this PC has is the onboard sound works but has very noisy lines. So I replaced it with the Turtle Beach Montego. -Onboard video is very weak S3 Trio chip, replaced with ATi Rage 128 AGP. -RAM expanded to 256MB This computer was not a good candidate for SSD storage because of the IBM BIOS which just refuses to work with any of the technology that I have. This computer has a Quantum Fireball 8GB HDD for it's main storage. This is the largest drive the BIOS supports. This computer has working DOS Realmode sound. Running Windows 98 SE with the Plus! 98 addition. Mainly cosmetic items from the plus package are installed such as desktop themes and screensavers. Plus also included several now-redundant programs such as mcafee antivirus which I have NOT installed. Includes Peanuts, Doonesbury, Cathy themes etc. My Win98 PCs are also upgraded with the USB driver system from Windows Millennium, which allows them to access USB storage drives like a modern PC. So long as those drives are no larger than 136GB, and formatted in FAT32. Not sure how to do this? A simple text guide is included. USB peripherals do work with Windows 98 but you will need a PS/2 model to log in for the first time. You can also use a serial mouse. I do not recommend using a PS/2 converter of any kind.
