A coin exhibition was held in Eisenach (Thuringia) to mark Luther's 500th birthday. The reverse of the medal refers to this. Genuine piece, hard to find! Obverse shows the Head of Martin Luther (as "Sir George the Knight") and the inscription "MARTIN LUTHER EHRUNG DER DDR 1983". Reverse shows a historical coin and the inscription "KULTURBUND DER DDR MÜNZAUSSTELLUNG 1983" - "VII. BMA EISENACH". The medal was designed by medalist Helmut König. Diameter 42 mm, weight 33.5 g.
