Description: This is the original (1sh) 1955 movie poster REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. It was used to promote the film in theatres when it was released by Warner Brothers in 1955. This original movie poster is not a reprint nor a reproduction. The movie stars James Dean, Natalie Wood, Sal Mineo, Jim Backus, Ann Doran, Edward Platt, and Corey Allen. It was directed by Nicholas Ray. The movie poster is Flat and measures 22" x 28". Normally this is called a Half Sheet. It will be mailed Flat. Prior to restoration, the poster was Folded once horizontally and once vertically. Most original movie posters pre-1985 are Folded. Folding in not considered a defect or a flaw. The poster is on medium stock paper (quite sturdy). This restored movie poster is graded C8.5, Very Fine to Near Mint. Original movie posters are graded, from the top down, as C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Very Good to Very Fine), C6 (Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc. It is difficult to find any C10 (Mint) original movie posers pre 1985. Prior to restoration the poster was graded a C7 Fine/Very Fine. Restoration corrected some fold separations, tiny chips along the border, small tears and pinholes along the edges, and Fold wear. The edges/borders and some parts of the image have been airbrushed. The poster now displays as pristine. Although there are post-restoration flaws (as we described above) they are truly unobtrusive to the incredible appearance of this Half Sheet. By "unobtrusive" we mean that the eye is not immediately drawn to these flaws at a normal viewing distance, and to see them one must conduct a very close inspection under bright light. Most of flaws occur along the edge/border, which professional framing can help alleviate. There is little doubt that the poster, once properly framed and displayed, will make a truly magnificent, striking, and memorable addition to any original movie poster collection. We believe that the original 1955 Half Sheet movie poster REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE has tremendous investment value. The words “Becomes the Biggest Star of the Year” - which was near the bottom of the poster after the statement “The overnight sensation of “EAST OF EDEN” - has been blacked out by the Distributors as James Dean tragically died shortly before the movie’s release in a car crash. Finally, this half Sheet has a truly beautiful picture of James Dean in his classic brooding face, at the left of the poster in powder blue. We feel this Half Sheet is rarer than its counterpart One Sheet (27" x 41"). And the high grade and condition of C8.5, Very Fine to Near Mint, certainly adds to its investment value.
