Description: About Ray Tracey: Born in 1953 on the Navajo Nation in Arizona. Tracey learned to make jewelry one summer when he was 9 years old, after he complained to his mother one day that he was bored. She took him to the reservation school in Ganado, Arizona. He walked into the arts and crafts room and saw the silversmithing table in the corner and was hooked. Making jewelry isn’t just a form of financial support for world-renowned artist Ray Tracey, it’s a form of ceremony. Every element in his designs symbolizes a spiritual connection or belief. Every piece has been a centering outlet for his creativity during trying times. This pendant features turquoise and lapis. The artist's hallmark - "joined TK and double feather" - is from an early period. The TK is for Tracey Knifewing. The stones are channel set into a foundation of heavy gauge sterling silver. Channel inlay has a thin strip of sterling silver between the stones. I have included a 16" sterling silver collar necklace so you can wear this pendant immediately. The collar is easy to put on and very comfortable. This pendant has been hand polished many many times with a soft polishing cloth to a bright shiny appearance. That is the beauty of sterling silver, it can become dark and be brought back to a beautiful shine. Never out of style, Southwest jewelry is an investment in enjoyment to last a lifetime.
