Description: Rare imported copy of Ray Gun magazine (Issue 11, November 1993) Art directed by David Carson, the graphic design and visual style of Ray Gun was truly unique, particularly in regard to its experimental and frequently challenging approach to layout and typography. The cover page of this issue is a good example of that, where Carson deploys an incredible surrealist icon-based typeface originally created by Polish graphic designer Roman Cieślewicz in 1964. (See photo). Ray Gun is widely recognised as having been hugely influential in the fields of art direction and graphic design in the nineties and onward. It really is one of the coolest magazines ever published. Cover: Swervedriver Features: Swervedriver,Brian Eno,The Cocteau Twins,The Mekons,Stereolab,Manic Street Preachers,Slowdive,Lush,The Verve,Curve,British fashion,Dentists,Tank Girl,Kinky Machine,James,Parliament and the Ambient House. Overall, this magazine is in good condition. All the pages are intact and are fairly smooth. There is however some visible wear on the spine where the paper cover has frayed with handling. On close inspection, the bottom edge of the front cover has a small (approx 1cm) thumb crease. There is also slight discolouration of paper throughout which is consistent with age. The original COMAG price sticker is retained on front cover. See photos for condition. I've decided to part with to my sizeable collection of magazines so please do check my page periodically as I'll be posting listings for other issues of Ray Gun, plus copies of THE FACE, Arena, Arena Homme Plus, Dazed, Blow, Love and others, all purchased by me at the time of publication (a very long time ago...).
