Description: Awaiting your purchase is this rare coin silver bowl / porringer crafted by William Garret Forbes of NYC in a wonderful everted rim, traditional 18thC handled pattern. This special item remains in Very good condition, (see condition report above), and bears a monogram Samuel Chadwick to Coster Chadwick 1852. Appraiser Notes: This porridger has made its travels around NYC. Created by Mr. Forbes, presumably by its style, in the last quarter of the 1700s, and more than likely sold by him, prior to his death, to Marquand & Co. in the early 1830s. Ball Tomkins & Black took over this operation, and it was at this time that the porringer sold to Mr. Chadwick, and was monogrammed. A rare and beautifully constructed piece of colonial era silver by a master silversmith!
