Description: Hobe 1960's Egyptian Revival Necklace with Sphinx, Sarcophagus, Nefertiti, Blackamoor enamel and bakelite. This necklace is part of a full parure that I have listed on ebay. This auction is for the necklace only. This Necklace is from an iconic Egyptian Revival set from Hobé attributed to Hobe in the book, Collecting Costume Jewelry 202, by Julia Carroll. Hobe released this stunning set to commemorate the movie, Cleopatra in the 1960's. It is fairly scarce today. . The three-dimensional, highly sculptural necklace has three main links consisting of an enameled blackamoor face with earrings, a Queen Nefertiti profile, and a sphinx, with 2 Sarcophagi in between. There are cobras and green Bakelite triangles over a shiny gold tone metal. It is quite a chunky piece at a max of 17 inches long X 1 1/2" wide, with an adjustable hook clasp. Each of the three link sections is highlighted with two green triangular bakelite pieces on either side of the main figure . Then there are three green enameled snake heads in a triangle around the main figure. Please look at my other listings where I have the matching bracelet, earrings and brooch. The earrings mirror the bracelet with the enameled Queen Nefertiti profile, the cobra snake, and the thick, bakelite triangles. Each earring measures 1 1/4" tall and are clip backs with comfort pads. Very unique and interesting pieces - a sure conversation starter - real bold, statement-making pieces. Egyptian Revival pieces have always been great collectors pieces and are still highly popular today
