Description: SS Normandie French Line Transatlantic Que Pin Read Decription. Built in Saint -Nazaire France. Pins were worn by the crew. It fits in the buttonhole on their uniform jacket. The ship carried some famous people Ernest Hemingway and wife Colette, Noel Coward and Irving Berlin, Jimmy Stewart, Sonja Henie. It was put into service in 1935 and was the largest and fastest passenger ship of it's time. 14.4 days and was turbo electric WWII it was seized by US authorities and renamed USS Lafayette. It was being converted to a troop carrier. A mysterious fire capsized the ship into the Hudson River were it set for a year and when they finally were going to restore the ship but it was to costly.
